Barcelona Ready for Historic Match at Renovated Camp Nou this Saturday
The club confirmed their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou on Saturday. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition two and a half years after they moved out so building work could begin.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Not all seats will be available but 45,401 spectators can be present under the licence granted. When completed, the Camp Nou is due to hold almost 105,000 spectators, up from the previous 99,000. The club said completed upgrades featured a renovated tunnel for players plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barça organized a fan-accessible workout on the home pitch in early November. Officials stated they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game versus the German side on 9 December at the stadium. Their recent games have been held in the temporary ground.
